Cleaning supplies that remove pet stains and odors are available at retail stores. The faster the stain is treated the better the ability to remove it. What you use as a house cleaning solution though will decide if the stain is permanently removed or not. The home cleaning supplies for removing pet stains vary giving the homeowner several possibilities for their needs.

Ammonia is the source problem in urine pet stains. Ammonia is the scent that draws the pet back to the same spot on your carpet, wood or vinyl floor. You must erase the odor of ammonia to prevent repeat pet accidents. Make sure that if you buy a product from a retailer that you read the ingredients on any pet stain removing products to ensure that they do not include ammonia.

Retail products are so diverse now that it is hard to make a decision on what product to try. Two products that really stood out online were Simple Solutions Natural Pet Stain and Odor Eliminator and the laundry additive OxiClean. Simple Solutions Natural Pet Stain and Odor Eliminator can be found at Petsmart and at Petco. OxiClean can be found at nearly any grocery store.

If you want to try using green cleaning supplies you could try using a spray bottle filled with 50% white vinegar and 50% water with a tablespoon of Dawn dish soap. Spray the stain first and then blot with the shammy. This pulls the odor and the stain out of the carpet. This can also be used on wood floors. Follow the treatment with baking soda and allow the baking soda to dry for a few hours to overnight before vacuuming the carpet. The baking soda will help to remove the ammonia odor which is what actually draws the pet back to the area.
